Physical exercise can help increase energy levels, promote a positive outlook on life, improve cognitive function, and improve the quality of life overall. Here are a few easy activities for the elderly to promote physical health.
- Walking or walking the dog.
Taking a few minutes every day to walk around the neighborhood, park, or even around the house is an easy activity that can be performed by older adults that improves cardiovascular health and strengthen muscles and joints. Walking with a pet has the added benefit of having a companion during the exercise.
- Gardening.
Tending to a garden is good for mental health and provides light exercise as well. Being outside in nature and enjoying sunlight can provide vitamin D that has plenty of health benefits.
- Cooking.
